YOUNG ARTIST COMPETITION

The 2nd Young Artist Competition for outstanding flutists is divided into 3 age categories: Category A (18-30 y.o.), Category B (12-17 y.o.) and Category C (6-11 y.o.). Qualifying contestants will compete at the 2021 TFF Convention.

REGISTRATION is due on Monday, March 1, 2021. The completed entry should include uploaded files and a 65€ entry fee paid during submission process. Each participant is responsible for covering their own expenses.

Category A
Category A is intended for flutists ages 18-30 years of age. Prizes of 3,000€, 1,500€, and 1,000€ will be awarded to the finalists. The first-prize winner will be presented in a performance sponsored by BMusic Artists & Events Management Agency at the following festival and be awarded a wooden headjoint by Powell Flutes.
Recorded Round Repertoire
Preliminary round recordings must be unedited and uploaded as a YouTube link. Each selection should be recorded individually in one performance and in the exact repertoire order listed. Accompanied repertoire must be recorded with piano accompaniment.

Semifinal Round Repertoire

Final Round Repertoire
This repertoire will be presented at the 2021 TFF Convention on Sunday, April 25, 2021.

Prokofiev Sonata, Mvt. 1

Each finalist shall create a 20-minute program demonstrating artistic maturity, technical and tonal qualities. The program should include the required final round work and reflect a wide variety of styles and/or periods. This may include single movements of works, sonatas, concerti, and unaccompanied pieces. It is not necessary to perform all movements of a single work but any individual movement of a work must be performed in its entirely.
Category B
Category B is intended for flutists ages 12-17 years of age.
Prizes of 1,000€, 1,500€, and 500€ will be awarded to the finalists.

Each finalist shall create a 15-minute program demonstrating artistic maturity, technical and tonal qualities. The program should include the required final round work and reflect a wide variety of styles and/or periods. This may include single movements of works, sonatas, concerti, and unaccompanied pieces. It is not necessary to perform all movements of a single work but any individual movement of a work must be performed in its entirely.
Category C
Category C is intended for flutists ages 6-11 years of age.
Prizes of 350€, 150€, and 100€ will be awarded to the finalists.
