INTERNATIONAL PICCOLO SOLOIST

Currently Piccolo Soloist of the Berlin Opera House (Deutsche Oper Berlin), Ruth Andreina Pereira Medina won the “Young Promise” award at the V National Competition ‘Andalucía Flauta’ held by the Spanish Flute Association in Estepona, at the age of 17. She has been awarded prizes at international flute and chamber music competitions in Europe, North and South America. Some of these competitions include: South Carolina Flute Society – Young Artist Competition, 17th Chieri International Competition, Young Artist Competition of the Tampere Flute Fest and the Dutch International Flute Competition.
Born in Barquisimeto, Ruth studied music in Venezuela, France and Germany. She has had internships and temporary contracts in the following orchestras: Dresden Philharmonic, Frankfurt Opera and Gürzenich Orchester in Cologne. Ruth has given master classes in Croatia, Portugal, France, Germany, Ecuador, Mexico and Venezuela. She founded her own course, the “Dr. Ruth Elizabeth International Course” with the aim of organising Workshops (individual, group and mental training classes) for woodwind instruments around the world.
