FINNISH HARP SOLOIST

Originally from Hattula, Päivi Severeide (née. Viitanen) received her Master of Music from the Sibelius Academy in 2008, and completed her harp diploma the year before with the guidance of Reija Bister and Arielle Valibouse. She also studied at the Hochschule für Musik in Freiburg in the harp class of Sarah O’Brien. Päivi had her debut in 2009. In 2005 she performed as a young soloist with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra and later performed with other Finnish orchestras as well. Severeide holds the position of principal harpist at the Avanti! Chamber Orchestra and the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra since 2014. She is also a harp professor at the Sibelius Academy.
