About
FLUTIST, IMPROVISOR, EDUCATOR AND ARTISTIC RESEARCHER
Livia Schweizer is a flutist, improvisor, educator and artistic researcher based in Helsinki. She is known for her interest in improvisation and non-conventional music notation as a tool for bringing together creative souls of different backgrounds and cultures. After graduating from the Conservatory of Livorno in Italy, attracted by the Finnish contemporary music scene, Livia moved to Helsinki to study at the Sibelius Academy with Mikael Helasvuo. Livia is a music teacher at the International School of Helsinki and a doctoral student at the Sibelius Academy. In the last years, Livia has been performing in several festivals in Finland such as the Flow Festival, Helsingin Juhlaviikot, UNM, among others. Some of Livia’s past teachers include Mauro Rossi, Hanna Kinnunen and Jim Walker.
